About Reflex Hair Studio

"I have been hairdressing now for the best part of 25 years, and have owned my own business for 20 of them, which I am extremely proud of.
We aim to give our clients the best service possible, this is why I decided to stay in a village environment. I feel we can give our clients a better friendly service, which has resulted in a lot of our clients becoming very close friends and well as our customers.
We are a small team of just 3 of us, so let me introduce you to Rebecca.
Rebecca has grown up in Golcar which helped our salon when she came to work for us, village people like to see a familiar face.
Rebecca came to work for me in April 2012, not long after we opened the salon in Town End. She started with me just as a day release from college, but I soon saw the potential in her, so not long after I employed her on an apprentice, which she received apprenticeship of the year, a very proud moment for all of us. She is now qualified in level 1 and 2 hairdressing, and recently we both qualified in level 3.
We have also been on several colour courses to keep up with our training.

Well where do I start I guess right at the begging my name is Rebecca I’m 25 and I started working at reflex 8 years ago.
I started off just voluntary on a Friday which was always a busy day in the salon so I got to learn lots while I was at Kirklees college full time. Sue then offered me an apprenticeship which I was so excited because it was exactly what I wanted from then sue started to teach me all about hairdressing I loved working at reflex and all the clients I’d always lived in Golcar so it was only 5 minute walk to work and I knew quite a few of the clients already.
From this I then also started a barbering course level 1 & 2 it was a lot of hard work but it all paid off and I got apprentice of the year I was so pleased I passed both of my courses and became fully qualified from this then sure offered me a full time job. I decided that I wanted to further my career and applied to do my level 3 in hairdressing which I started at all about hair and beauty college but while I was on this course I found out I was pregnant with my little boy very exciting but more stressful as then me and my partner Jonathan started saving for a mortgage while I was trying to complete my level 3 and I top of that my level 2 maths which i did pass both courses buy a house and have a healthy little boy Leo all within that year crazy how much happened
When I came back I went part time which worked well with my little boy Leo and the clients I had as well then on 2017 we started trying for another baby and February 2018 a beautiful healthy little girl Alexis arrived, and whilst I was on mat leave sue offered me to go self-employed which I said yes to ! So I been through every stage of my career within the last 8 years and I couldn’t be happier working there alongside sue and Kirsty I love my job hairdressing isn’t just my job it’s my passion meeting new people and no day is the same seeing people’s faces and there mood change while you’re doing their hair it makes me happy so I look forward to see old and new clients and I can’t wait to see what the next years have install for me

Hi my name is Kirsty and I joined the Reflex team in November 2018.
I started my hairdressing career in this very salon fourteen years ago where I did an in-salon apprenticeship with a day release to college. The salon was under different management back then but it’s great to be back working in my home village and nice to see some familiar faces!
Once I had qualified, I briefly ran a small salon at Paddock before opening The Hair Shop in Milnsbridge in 2008.
I had The Hair Shop for eight years and loved every minute but I decided after the birth of my son (Arthur, now 5) to just work part time for a while and enjoy being a Mum.
After closing the salon in 2016 i rented a chair for two years at Paige Ellesse Hair Design in Milnsbridge before coming to join Sue and Rebecca at Reflex.
I currently work Thursday, Friday and Saturday and I specialise in all types of cutting and colouring services and wedding and occasion hair.
I have known Sue and Rebecca a long time and they have made me feel very welcome here at Reflex. I look forward to meeting all existing and new clients
